Dr. Elira Turdubaeva ist Marie-Curie-Forschungsstipendiatin am Forschungszentrum für Osteuropa der Universität Bremen (2025–2026), wo sie sich mit russischer Propaganda über den Krieg in der Ukraine in den sozialen Medien in Zentralasien befasst.
Dr. Turdubaevas Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf digitalem Autoritarismus, Informationskriegführung und Mediensystemen in autoritären Kontexten, mit besonderer Expertise in zentralasiatischen Medien und Kommunikation. Sie war Fulbright-Stipendiatin (2024–2025) und hat für die UNESCO, die OSZE und das UNDP finanzierte Forschungsarbeiten zu Themen wie Online-Gewalt gegen Journalistinnen, Medienentwicklungsindikatoren und Social-Media-Ökosysteme in Zentralasien durchgeführt.
Dr. Turdubaeva ist mehrsprachig (Englisch, Türkisch, Russisch, Kirgisisch, Kasachisch und Usbekisch) und hat zahlreiche Publikationen veröffentlicht, darunter die Mitherausgabe von „Mapping the Media and Communication Landscape of Central Asia“ (Lexington Books, 2023) sowie 15 begutachtete Zeitschriftenartikel und 14 Buchkapitel. Sie hat Tausende von Pädagogen, Journalisten und Medienfachleuten in ganz Zentralasien zu Themen wie KI-Kompetenz, Medienkompetenz und digitalem Journalismus geschult.
Forschungsschwerpunkte
Dr. Turdubaevas Forschungsschwerpunkte sind digitaler Autoritarismus, Informationskriegführung und digitaler Autoritarismus: Analyse russischer Propaganda, Überwachungstechnologien, Desinformationskampagnen in Zentralasien.
- Medienfreiheit und autoritäre Regierungsführung: Pressefreiheit, Zensur, Beziehungen zwischen Staat und Medien in hybriden Regimes.
- Konflikt- und Friedensforschung: Medien und regionale Konflikte, Hassrede, Online-Gewalt gegen Journalisten.
- Politische Kommunikation: Aktivismus in sozialen Medien, Wahlpolitik, Protestbewegungen, digitale Mobilisierung
- KI und digitale Transformation: KI in Bildung und Journalismus, algorithmische Regierungsführung, Plattformmacht
- Soziale Medien und Plattformpolitik: Netzwerkanalyse, Engagement junger Menschen, Moderation von Inhalten, digitaler Nationalismus
