ZeMKI will be present on Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with its own Media Area on the ground floor of BREMENwelt Wissenschaft in the former GALERIA KAUFHOF building.

On the afternoon of 8 July 2026, members of ZeMKI gathered at Linzer Straße 4 for the ZeMKI Research Day 2026. This internal event format provides a forum for presenting ongoing projects from the eleven ZeMKI Labs, discussing methodological issues and bringing together perspectives across the boundaries of the individual Labs.

On 8 July 2026, the ZeMKI Research Day at the Linzer Straße 4 site segued directly into the ZeMKI Summer Party. Following the day’s academic programme, the discussions moved outdoors and continued there in an informal setting.

This week the AI PAN-AFRICANISM consortium gathered in Bremen to kick-off a joint research and advocacy initiative on Pan-African AI governance.

ZeMKI is taking part in the University of Bremen’s Open Campus 2026 today. Under the motto ‘Opening up worlds – sharing knowledge’, the university is offering insights into research, study programmes and academic projects on campus.

To mark the 200th anniversary of the Segeberger Zeitung, ZeMKI member Dr. Leif Kramp was invited to give an interview to the Kieler Nachrichten. In it, he discusses the importance of local newspapers in an era of growing disinformation and explains their vital role in a democratic public sphere. Leif Kramp also assesses the current situation of local newspapers, describes the challenges many face, and outlines prospects for necessary changes and future developments.

From 11 to 15 May 2026, the fourth edition of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) organized by the Digital Constitutionalism Network took place in Dublin, Ireland. Entitled “Digital Futures, Sustainable Freedoms: Rights, Responsibilities and Governance”, this international teaching program follows successful BIP editions in Padua (2023), at ZeMKI (2024), and in Salerno (2025). Until December 1, 2025, abstracts can be submitted for the workshop on international relations in the digital age, which is being organized by ZeMKI and the Institute for Intercultural and International Studies (InIIS) at the University of Bremen, as well as the International Relations Section (IB Section) of the German Political Science Association (DVPW).
