Anke Mikos studied religious studies at the University of Bremen and completed her studies with a master’s thesis entitled “The #outinchurch Reform Movement – Believers Caught Between Catholicism and Queerness” in 2024. Prior to this, she had already dealt with media coverage of the Catholic Church in Germany in her bachelor’s thesis “Interdenominational Marriages and Joint Participation in the Eucharist.” She’s been working as a research assistant at the Institute for Religious Studies and Education since January 2026. Her research focuses on the Catholic Church in Germany as a political actor (PhD project). She also serves as Managing Editor of the Gamevironments Journal.
