The dissertation of ZeMKI member Katharina Heitmann-Werner has been published by Springer VS under the title 'Zivilgesellschaft und Stadtöffentlichkeit - Eine akteurszentrierte Analyse der kommunikativen Figuration der Stadt' (Civil society and the urban public sphere - an actor-centred analysis of the communicative figuration of the city).

ZeMKI is currently developing “OpenQDA”, an open-source software for the qualitative coding of research data (interviews, observation protocols, etc.).

On 16/05/2024, ZeMKI member Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp will give a lecture online at 10:00 CET at the Institute for Global Communications & Integrated Media at Fudan University on the deep mediatization of the social world.  

Prof. Cornelius Puschmann from the Digital Communication and Information Diversity Lab (DCID) is invited as an expert on social media data to the event "Navigating the Social Media Data Terrain: Roundtable on the Current Landscape of Social Media Data Availability" hosted by the SAMF Data Lab at the University of Copenhagen on 23 May 2024.

Katharina Schöppl has been working as a research assistant in the “Media Change and Long-Term Transformation Processes” lab since May 2024. We warmly welcome Katharina Schöppl and wish her a great start at the ZeMKI!

In late April 2024, ZeMKI and the University of Bremen, hosted their first-ever Erasmus+ “blended-intensive programme” (BIP). Around thirty students and half a dozen instructors from eight universities across Europe participated in a week-long workshop designed under the theme “Digital Constitutionalism and the UN Global Digital Compact”.
