On 03/07/2024 the research colloquium of Dr. Julia Borst (University of Bremen) will take place.

Next Wednesday, July 3rd, the ZeMKI summer party with molo.news, the information platform for Bremen and Leipzig, will take place. Current and former members of ZeMKI will come together to end the summer semester with drinks and barbecue in a relaxed atmosphere. A special highlight of the party will be a live performance by the band "The Educators".

On July 1, the members of the ZeMKI will meet to discuss joint research perspectives. At the internal conference, ZeMKI members will present the current status of their research projects in two poster sessions and discuss perspectives for the joint medium-term research strategy up to the year 2030.

9. Juli 2024, 13:00 – 14:00 Uhr: In the next edition of our online talk series "Behind the Scenes - Conversations on Empirical Platform Governance Research", Friederike Quint and Yannis Theocharis will talk about the role of community guidelines on social media platforms for users when evaluating potentially harmful content.

Special honor for the spokesperson of the Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI) at the University of Bremen: At the meeting of the International Communication Association (ICA) in Gold Coast, Australia, Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp was appointed ICA Fellow on June 22, 2024.

Recently, a new working paper by former ZeMKI member Dr. Henrik Heuer et al. was published.

Luisa Runge (M2C Institute for Applied Media Research, Bremen University of Applied Sciences) and Miira Hill (DCID, ZeMKI) have qualified for the conference “Intertwining and Rethinking Digitalization, Society, and Co-Worlds from a Queer Feminist Perspective” at Leibniz University Hannover with their contribution “Queer Feminist Perspectives on TikTok: A Critical Analysis of Sexism and Platform Governance.”

ZeMKI member Dr Philip Sinner was invited by Prof Dr Robin Samuel, Dr Anette Schumacher, Dr Hannes Käckmeister, Simone Charles (Digital Documentation and Research Centre (DDRC)) and the Gouvernement du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg | Ministère de l'Éducation nationale, de l'Enfance et de la Jeunesse (MENJE) to the University of Luxembourg.
