In her project “’You Are Your History’: Family Memory and Identity on Genealogy Platforms” (funded by the Central Research Development Fund (CRDF) of the University of Bremen), she investigates how genealogical platforms shape and transform media practices related to family memory. Previously Rieke Böhling was a doctoral candidate at ZeMKI. She completed her doctoral dissertation on mediated memories of migration in families in 2022. She studied American Studies (BA) at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands) with a semester at the College of Charleston (USA). Subsequently, she obtained a double degree from the Erasmus Mundus MA European Studies: Euroculture, at the University of Groningen and the University of Deusto (Spain).
