Biography
From 2011 to 2020, Jula Helena Schürmann was a lecturer in the field of artistic media practice at the Institute for Art History, Film Studies, and Art Education at the University of Bremen, specializing in film and photography.
Prior to that, she studied art and cultural studies as well as media culture at the University of Bremen. She graduated in 2011 with a master’s thesis entitled “Self-Reflexive Strategies in Film Aesthetics: On the Deconstruction of the Objective Gaze in Documentary Film.”
Since 2006
Freelance work as a camera assistant.
2008/09
Collaboration in the organization and implementation of the Bremen Animal Film Festival, April 23-29, 2009.
Since 2009
Tutor for Prof. Dr. Winfried Pauleit at the University of Bremen.
Since 2009
Curatorial work at the City 46 municipal cinema in Bremen.
2011/12Curation of the exhibition “John Smith. Worst Case Scenario. Films from 1975-2003” in cooperation with the Weserburg – Museum of Modern Art Bremen.
