ZeMKI, Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research Paul Pressmann undertakes POLTRACK research stay in Brisbane, Australia NewsZeMKI-News9. March 2025 ZeMKI member Paul Pressmann has completed a one-month research stay at the DMRC (Digital Media Research Centre) of the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia, to further expand international cooperation within the POLTRACK project. The project, which is funded by the DAAD and UA, aims to strengthen scientific cooperation between Germany and Australia and to further develop innovative methods for analysing polarization trends in digital news offerings. He took part in the DMRC Summer School for a week, where he deepened his methodological knowledge of current research approaches in media and communication research. In addition, he was actively involved in joint research on the polarization of news content and its operationalization in the research area for Digital Publics, headed by Prof. Dr. Axel Bruns. Since 2022, the POLTRACK research project has been investigating how digital media use contributes to political polarization. In addition to the Lab for Digital Communication and Information Diversity, the Leibniz Institute for Media Research, Hans Bredow Institute (HBI) and the GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences are also involved in the project.
