ZeMKI, Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research Out now: ZeMKI Research Report 2023/2024 NewsPublicationZeMKI-News19. December 2024 The research report presents the diverse research activities at ZeMKI since fall 2023 on 164 pages. For the first time, special attention is paid to a focus topic, which is presented on a total of 24 pages: this year communicative artificial intelligence, or ComAI for short. The choice of communicative AI as the focus topic for 2024 is due to the successful application of a research unit on the automation of social communication. The research unit was reviewed in April, approved by the Senate of the German Research Foundation (DFG) in the middle of the year and will start at the beginning of 2025 with a total of 9 projects and a coordination project. The focus is on the question of how social communication will change if generative AI becomes part of it. However, much more has already been created in addition to this, not only the “ComAI Lectures” series, but also a cooperative conference on “Shaping 21st Century AI”. In addition to the thematic focus, the research report provides an insight into various current research projects, including a diverse selection of qualification projects, as well as research-based learning events as part of the media study programs at the ZeMKI. Academic conferences, new publications and members are also presented in detail. The research report is available digitally here.
