May 2024 Since May, Katharina Schöppl has been working as a research assistant in the “Media Change and Long-Term Transformation Processes” lab, where she is collaborating with Prof. Dr. Christian Schwarzenegger on the DFG project “Alternative Media – Alternative Public Spheres – Alternative Realities? Users and patterns of use of system-critical alternative media and their significance in the media repertoire over time”. She is currently a lecturer at the Institute for Media, Knowledge and Communication (IMWK) at the University of Augsburg. Previously, she was a research assistant and lecturer at the Institute for Media, Knowledge and Communication at the University of Augsburg. Between May and August 2022, she was involved in a research project investigating the self-presentation of scientists on social media, in collaboration with the University of Salzburg and the University of Vienna. Prior to that, from June to July 2021, she was part of the Austrian sub-project of the international comparative study “Mediated Parent Networks” at the University of Surrey under the direction of Dr. Christine Trültzsch-Wijnen. In addition, she was a tutor for the course “Theories of Communication Studies” at the University of Salzburg from March to June 2021 and worked as a research assistant in the department “Media Use and Digital Cultures” at the same university from October 2020 to June 2021. Katharina Schöppl completed her Master’s degree in Political Science and Communication Studies at the University of Salzburg. She also obtained a Diplôme d’Université in Business Administration at the IUT Université Grenoble Alpes from February to May 2017. She first obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and then in Communication Science. We warmly welcome Katharina Schöppl and wish her a great start at the ZeMKI!
