Sub-project A01 is the central interface for project area A and pursues two objectives:

First, it addresses the research question of how socio-political development dynamics and inter-state interdependencies as well as their interrelationships can be measured and mapped in the best possible data-based way.

Secondly, a comprehensive interactive, web-based information system on the global development dynamics of social policy is being developed: The Global Welfare State Information System (WeSIS)

WeSIS comprises three data components:

1. Welfare state indicators
2. Indicators on country-specific characteristics
3. Indicators on interdependencies between countries and between countries and international organizations

To achieve both goals, new analysis, interaction and visualization options are being tested and implemented in “co-creation” with various user groups in an interdisciplinary collaboration between political science, geography and computer science.
