Research Projects Dimba. Digital media in in-company vocational training. Media Appropriation and Media Use in the everyday Practice of in-company training Personnel CompletedResearch project Duration: 2015 – 2017Project lead: Prof. Dr. Andreas BreiterResearch association/cooperation: Institute for Technology and Education (ITB), Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) Project management: Prof. Dr. Andreas Breiter Funding institution: Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) The project researched the use of digital media in in-company training practice and developed concepts and materials for training personnel. The focus was on the trainees and research into their mediatized everyday practice, as well as the resulting consequences for the design of educational processes. The Dimba research and development project focused on researching (mediatized) everyday practice in the context of in-company training and the resulting consequences for the design of educational processes. In collaboration with the Institute for Technology and Education (ITB) and on behalf of (unid in cooperation) the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), the use of digital media in in-company training practice was investigated and practical support concepts and materials for training personnel were subsequently developed. The central questions of the research project were: How do company-based training personnel select digital media for everyday training and further training practice = How are digital media integrated into training and further training processes ? What support is needed for company training personnel in order to be able to optimally integrate digital media into initial and continuing training? The central questions were investigated in a cross-domain setting and with recourse to a model of media pedagogical competence from teacher training, which was adapted and modified for the area of in-company training, using different research methods. The Institut für Informationsmanagement Bremen GmbH (ifb) was responsible for the qualitative and quantitative research parts of the Dimba project and was involved in the development of the materials. Against the background of existing standards in the training of trainers, the training practice in the fields of mechatronics, commercial professions and (geriatric) care was examined. The aim was, on the one hand, to support trainers in acquiring media pedagogical skills through suitable concepts and materials and, on the other hand, to incorporate media pedagogical skills into further training concepts for in-company training personnel across all domains.
