Workshop "How quickly times change“– December 4 to 5, 2025
1. December 2025
On December 4 and 5, 2025, the workshop “How quickly times change – Diagnosing the present and refiguring spaces” will take place at the Technical University of Berlin as part of the Collaborative Research Center 1265 “Re-Figuration of Spaces.”
Organized by Prof. Dr. Martina Löw and Prof. Dr. Hubert Knoblauch, the two-day event will focus on the concept of refiguration. This concept formulates general theoretical claims across various empirical works: First, it aims to integrate spatial dimensions of social processes into social theory. Second, it aims to contribute to a theory of spatial social change. Third, it aims to provide a diagnostic understanding of recent social developments.
The workshop will discuss how different sociological findings can be synthesized into a common diagnosis of our times. In particular, it will explore the connections between current diagnoses of our times and the theory of refiguration.
On the first day of the workshop, ZeMKI member Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp is also expected as a speaker. His presentation will begin at 4:45 p.m.
The workshop will be held in German. Registration is requested and should be sent to the following email address: rim.winker@tu-berlin.de.
