Workshop "Digital Service Act Art. 40: Promise vs. Practice"
Date: 26. November 2025
Time: 14:00
Location: ZeMKI, Linzer Str. 4
Room: 60.070 (Conference room)
Lab Platform Governance, Media & Technology, in collaboration with the DSA 40 Data Access Collaboratory, is organising a workshop on “Digital Services Act Art. 40: Promise vs. Practice”. The event provides a space for researchers to explore and discuss current practical and legal challenges of researcher data access under DSA Art. 40.
Since the DSA’s implementation, researchers have faced significant challenges obtaining platform data. Six months ago, a coordinated coalition submitted a joint application, which was ultimately denied. This workshop brings researchers together to learn from existing experiences, coordinate stronger applications, share ideas, and develop advocacy strategies where necessary.
Invited Speakers
- LK Seiling, DSA 40 Data Access Collaboratory
- Julian Jaursch, Digital Services Coordinator
- Susanne de Vogel, Data Science Center, University of Bremen
- Nele Fuchs, Data Science Center, University of Bremen
Key Topics
- Key aspects of a successful data access application
- Learnings from previous applications
