Pauline Hope Cheong is President’s Professor and Zebulon Pearce Distinguished Teacher of the Social Sciences, at Arizona State University. She studies how emerging technologies influence community interactions, believing that invisible yet powerful communication practices constitute how we learn, organize, and impact participation and power in society.
Her recent projects examine the social and cross-cultural aspects of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) for smart and sustainable cities, including governance and strategic planning, digital opportunities and innovation policy. She also directs research on how non-profit and religious organizations utilize A.I., social robotics, and digital media to build authority and create both local and global communities.
