Simran Agarwal: “Examining the State-Platform Nexus in the Governance of Online News in India”

In the next session of the PGMT-Lab online talk series “Behind the Scenes – Conversations on Empirical Platform Governance Research”, Simran Agarwal will talk about “Examining the State-Platform Nexus in the Governance of Online News in India”.

Over the past decade, research has revealed the complex networks and mechanisms shaping platform governance, yet most models focus either on state regulation or platform self-governance. Simrans thesis research adopts a three-pronged platform governance framework to explore how the Indian state and platforms conflict and complement one another in governing the online news industry in India. This talk will reflect on the theoretical and methodological foundations underpinning this research.
