ZeMKI, Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research Research software made at ZeMKI - OpenQDA launches early access phase NewsZeMKI-News14. March 2024 Research software has become an important tool for qualitative research. However, currently available research software for qualitative data analysis can have some disadvantages: It is sometimes functionally overloaded and complicated to use, tends to be geared towards individual users or is expensive to purchase or use. This is why we at ZeMKI have developed OpenQDA, a tool for the qualitative coding of data (interviews, observation protocols, etc.) with the following basic features: OpenQDA is easy to use and provides all core functions for qualitative data analysis, but can be extended by a plug-in infrastructure if required. This allows the program to be adapted to the specific requirements of the research conducted. In addition, OpenQDA is browser-based and designed for collaborative teamwork. It also supports the REFI standard, which should enable data exchange with other coding software in the future. Finally, OpenQDA is open source software and as such is available free of charge. At DGPuK2024, OpenQDA will enter its early access phase and be presented to the research community. All interested parties are invited to try it out extensively and send us comments, ideas and remarks on functionality and handling or simply their general opinion. To use the program, simply visit the website www.openqda.org. For any form of feedback, the quickest way to contact us is by e-mail at OpenQDA@uni-bremen.de. Labs Lab Datafication and Mediatization
