The journal offers an international forum for current discourses, new approaches and perspectives of research in the interdisciplinary intersection of film and history. Through the integration of video clips and, in future, interactive elements, academic argumentation is made audiovisually tangible. The focus is on works in the spectrum of theoretical, practical and historical questions that connect the two disciplines thematically, in terms of content or methodologically. Research in Film and History is published twice a year in a regular and a special issue. For the regular issues, contributions are accepted on the basis of calls for papers previously published on the website. More detailed articles for the New Approaches section can be submitted at any time. No fee is charged for the publication of articles and essays. Research in Film and History pursues a non-commercial open access policy in order to make international debates and current research approaches accessible to a broad public. The journal is edited by ZeMKI members Dr. Rasmus Greiner, Tatiana Astefava (General Editors), Prof. Dr. Delia González de Reufels and Prof. Dr. Winfried Pauleit (Managing Editors). The International Advisory Board is made up of international experts from a total of eight countries. Research in Film and History was founded as part of the research project “Audiovisual Histospheres” (Dr. Rasmus Greiner, University of Bremen), which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the “Small Subjects – Great Potentials” initiative for the period 2017 – 2020. The journal received further funding from the central research funding of the University of Bremen (ZF) as part of the exploration project “Audio History of Film” and is currently supported by the ZeMKI.
