"Media - Culture - Communication" Book Series Editors are Prof. Dr. Maren Hartmann, Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp, Prof. Dr. Friedrick Krotz and Prof. Dr. Waldemar Vogelsang and is published by Springer VS Verlag. The series focuses on an interdisciplinary examination of the subject area of media, culture and communication. Whether we think of our ‘own’ culture or ‘foreign’ cultures, these are comprehensively permeated by processes of media communication. But what changes are cultures exposed to as a result? What is the relationship between different media such as film, television, the internet or mobile communication and different cultural forms? How does everyday life change under the influence of increasingly globalized media communication? What media skills are necessary to find one’s way in societies that are permeated by media? These are the kinds of questions relating to media and cultural change and the associated challenges and conflicts that the volumes in the Media – Culture – Communication series aim to address. This subject area transcends the boundaries of various social and cultural science disciplines such as communication and media studies, sociology, political science and linguistics and literary studies. The various volumes in the series aim to capture the complex interrelationship between media, culture and communication from a broad social science perspective based on different theoretical and empirical approaches. The series aims to make both current research and overviews in this area accessible. The Sociology of Media Communication section of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Studies (DGPuK) awards an annual dissertation prize in the subject area of the “Media – Culture – Communication” series. Further information on the prize and the nomination procedure can be found on a corresponding information flyer.
