Stefanie Averbeck-Lietz was a Professor of Communication Studies with a focus on media change at the University of Bremen between 2012 and 2023. During this time, she headed the Communication History and Media Change Lab and assumed functions in the Institute’s study management. She took up her appointment at the University of Bremen after holding deputy and visiting professorships at the Universities of Zurich and Münster. She completed her doctorate in Münster in 2000 with a thesis on Weimar newspaper studies and habilitated in 2008 on communication theories in France. Since 2016, she has been co-editor of Communications. The European Journal of Communication Research. In 2023, she changed to a professorship for communication studies with a focus on communication ethics at the University of Greifswald.
