Niklas Berger has been a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Lab for Digital Communication and Information Diversity (DCID), headed by Prof. Dr. Cornelius Puschmann, at the Center for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI) at the University of Bremen since February 2026.
Prior to this, he completed his Master’s degree in Political Science with a specialization in “International Political Theory” at the University of Hamburg and the University of Oslo, Norway. His Master’s thesis, The Platform Economy and Deliberation in the Digital Public Sphere, examined the normative implications of the economic realities of digital platforms for deliberative democracies.
His research is situated at the intersection of political science theories and concepts and the empirical and theoretical scholarship of communication and media studies, with a focus on the communicative conditions of deliberative democracy in digital public spheres.
