Biography
Dr. Florian Flömer completed his doctoral thesis on the photo collages of British artist John Stezaker at the Institute for Art History, Film Studies, and Art Education at the University of Bremen. His thesis, entitled “Masks, Ghosts, Spheres: On the Construction and Appearance of the Third in the Collages of John Stezaker,” deals with the intermedia overlaps between film and photography in the artist’s work. Florian Flömer is a lecturer at the University of Bremen, where he teaches courses on photo and film theory.
Florian Flömer previously studied art history, art education, German language and literature, and fine arts at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig. There, he also worked as an assistant at the Institute for Art History and as a tutor at the Chair of Philosophy/Aesthetics with a focus on contemporary art theory. In 2015, he completed a several-month internship abroad at the Goethe Institute in Seoul (South Korea).
