The focus of her work is primarily on media practice with practical media seminars such as Media Practice Week. She is also dedicated to university and science communication research. As a member of the board of the Society for University Research, she represents young university researchers (HofoNa). She works as a reviewer for “FQS – Forum Qualitative Social Research” and “Communications: The European Journal of Communication Research”. In 2020, Cornelia Driesen, as an external doctoral candidate at the Technical University of Berlin, defended her cumulative dissertation on the topic “The organization of the school-university transition of German universities. An empirical study of the perspective of university management”. She completed her studies from 2000 to 2005 at the Rheinisch Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen from 2000 to 2005, which she completed with a master’s thesis on the topic “The truth dies first – reporting in the Second Gulf War with special attention to the television channel CNN”. From 2008 to 2020 she was press spokesperson and head of the marketing and public relations department at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. In 2019, she received the Federal Association of University Communication Prize for her exemplary volunteer training in university communication. From 2005 to 2007, Cornelia Driesen herself was a volunteer in the press and public relations department at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences. She previously worked as a freelance journalist from 1996 to 2008 for the Westdeutsche Zeitung and the Aachener Zeitung, among others. She also completed internships, among others, in the news/sports editorial department of the NDR State Broadcasting Center Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in the press office of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament and the radio editorial department of Welle Niederrhein.
