Biography
Christina Sanko has been employed at the University of Bremen since September 2012 as a research assistant in the Department of Communication and Media Studies, specializing in communication history and media change. Prior to this, she worked at the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) office in Vietnam. Until 2011, Christina Sanko studied communication and media studies as well as English language and literature at the University of Leipzig. Her studies focused on historical and systematic communication studies and cultural studies. The title of her master’s thesis was “Torn Between Peace and Conflict Reporting: How Belfast’s Daily Press Covers the Latest Stage of the Peace Process in Northern Ireland.” Christina Sanko also studied journalism in the master’s program at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in Athens, OH. During her studies, she worked as a student assistant for the DFG project Virtual Library “medien bühne film” and was involved in the media education project “Seitenstark-Chat” for many years. She gained journalistic experience through internships at CNN International and the German Press Agency (dpa), among others.
