ZeMKI, Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research ICA Communication History Division Award for Miira Hill and Cornelius Puschmann NewsZeMKI-News17. June 2025 Dr. Miira Hill and Prof. Dr. Cornelius Puschmann from the DCID Lab receive the Communication History Division Top Paper Award of the ICA for their paper “Nostalgic for a Better Democracy? How German Right-Wing Social Media Commentators (Mis)remember the Past”. Their paper entitled was recognized by the Communication History Division (CHD) as a ‘timely and important piece of work’. The CHD is a central unit of the ICA for the historical study of communication and media, which promotes diverse perspectives and innovative approaches to the history of digital practices, among other things. The topic of the ICA Conference 2025, “ICA@75: Disrupting and Consolidating Communication Research”, is examined by the CHD from a historical perspective. The award-winning paper fits well into this profile by examining historical references in current social media communication. Cornelius Puschmann and Miira Hill will also present their paper in a panel at the ICA conference, which will take place in Denver from May 22 to 26, 2025.
