Guest lecture by Darin Harff: Political communication by influencers 

Dr. Darian Harff from the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies at the University of Vienna will give a guest lecture on the political communication of influencers at the DCID Lab’s colloquium on December 18, 2025.

The lecture entitled: “Exploring the political communication of social media influencers and young people’s trust in their advice” will take place as part of the DCID Lab colloquium. 

The presentation examines how social media influencers (SMI) communicate socio-political issues and why they become trusted sources for young people. Results from two content-analytical studies and a panel survey will be presented: cross-national surveys of young adults, a citizen science project with young people and a parent-child study.
