The aim of the project was to implement the core areas of media didactic competence in the form of seven concepts in the primary school curriculum. This was ensured through broad cooperation between the professorships of didactics in the subjects of German, mathematics and general studies as well as work studies with computer science, educational psychology and media education. In addition, the “Grundschule an der Gete” and the “Grundschule an der Nordstr.” are involved in testing the concepts in practice. Together, we want to advance digital education and inclusion in Bremen.

The mathematics didactics working group (together with Prof. Dr. David Reid) was responsible for the concept “Let’s move: virtual construction and action as tools for mathematical learning”. The main objective was to examine the extent to which the use of digital media helps to mediate between mathematical-concrete and symbolic representation in order to support the development of mental images necessary for mathematical learning.
