September 2024 The Lab for Digital Communication and Information Diversity at the University of Bremen is pleased to participate in the “Qualitative Digital Methods” conference, taking place on September 9-10, 2024, at Ruhr University Bochum. This conference serves as a platform for exploring innovative approaches at the intersection of media studies and qualitative sociology, with a particular focus on the application and impact of new digital methodologies in research. Miira Hill will give a talk with the title “Digital Methods in Qualitative Research: Integrating AI and Tracking Data to Uncover Social Dynamics in Crisis Contexts”. In her presentation, she will explore the challenges and opportunities that AI and tracking data present for qualitative research. The lecture will reflect on the methodologies of two mixed-methods papers co-authored with Patrick Zerrer and Cornelius Puschmann. The conference will bring together numerous renowned researchers, including Carolin Gerlitz, Lena Teigeler, Cornelius Schubert, Ronja Trischler, as well as Lisa Gerzen, Johannes Paßmann, Martina Schories, Tommas Venturini, Koed Madsen, Anders Munk, Elena Pilipets, David Moats, Andreas Bischof, Coppelie Cocq and Evelina Liliequist.
