Christian Schwarzenegger as a speaker on "Wissen um 11"

On Saturday, August 2, at 11 a.m., ZeMKI member Prof. Dr. Christian Schwarzenegger will give a lecture at Wissen um 11 entitled „Warum ist deine Wahrheit besser als meine? – Vom Wissen der Welt in der Hosentasche zu gefühlten Wahrheiten und konflikthaften Wirklichkeiten“.

The lecture deals with a paradoxical development in our deeply mediatized society. On the one hand, it is easier than ever before for people today to access the collective knowledge and diverse sources of information in the world. On the other hand, there is so much potential knowledge and false information available that there is often no longer even agreement on what counts as knowledge and how we as a society can agree on the foundations of what we consider to be true and real. The tendency toward perceived truths and the conflictual confrontation of different realities is not a consequence of a lack of knowledge, but rather a reaction to the overwhelming abundance of available information. The speaker will explain why this is so in his thirty-minute lecture.

This lecture will take place as an in-person event at the House of Science. In addition, the lecture will be recorded and made available afterwards on its YouTube channel and website.
