What is the role and responsibility of platforms and big tech companies? Over the past twenty years, social media platforms and other technology formats have become the most valuable companies in the world. Most of us use their services on a daily basis in our everyday and professional lives. At the same time, their increasing central importance for our society has given rise to fundamental controversies. Do their algorithms endanger democracy and social cohesion by spreading misleading media content and hate speech?

In his lecture, Christian Katzenbach will discuss fundamental questions about the responsibility and irresponsibility of digital platforms. These issues are currently gaining particular importance as the EU’s new public interest-oriented platform regulation will face a powerful alliance of the US government and tech companies in the coming months and years.

The lecture will be held in German and take place as a face-to-face event. Admission is free.
Additionally, the presentation will be recorded and posted on the organizers YouTube channel and website.
