The interdisciplinary research network CARD (Conceptualizing Agency, Religion and Digitalization) is holding its second working meeting at the University of Bremen from May 4th to May 6th. The focus of the event is the discussion of the first chapters of a planned handbook that will scientifically examine the complex interrelationships between agency, religion, and digital transformation processes.
Three renowed scholars from the international field will contribute their disciplinary perspectives to the academic exchange:
- Prof. Dr. Xenia Zeiler (University of Helsinki), Professor of South Asian Studies, researches religion in digital media cultures and contributes her expertise on religious practices in the digital sphere.
- Prof. Dr. Florian Höhne (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg), Professor of Media Communication, Media Ethics, and Digital Theology, represents the theological and ethical perspective on digital developments.
- Prof. Dr. Christian Schwarzenegger (University of Bremen, ZeMKI) is a professor of communication and media studies with a focus on media change, researching societal transformation processes in the digital age.
Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Digital Religiosity The CARD network, based at the Center for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI) at the University of Bremen, investigates how digital technologies are changing religious practices, communities, and beliefs. The discussion of the handbook chapters promises important insights into understanding religion in an increasingly digital world.
The planned handbook will make a significant contribution to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of religious studies, theology, media studies, and digitalization research.
