New ZeMKI Member in the Lab Media and Religion: Welcome Karina Moritzen
13. April 2026
Karina Moritzen is a PhD candidate in Musicology at the Universtiy of Oldenburg and in Communication at the Universidade Federal Fluminense. Since April 2026, she serves as an advisory member of the “Media and Religion” lab led by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Radde-Antweiler at ZeMKI.
Her PhD thesis entitled “Playing with In-game Concerts: Ludomusical Performances, Scenes and Hyperpop”, currently in its final stages, investigates the human and non-human actors involved in the socio-technical networks surrounding musical performances inside online gaming worlds. For her Postdoc project, she wishes to explore the labour practices of children working indirectly as programmers for gaming platforms such as Roblox, resulting in what she coins as Platform Child Playbour.
Karina is co-founder of Research Collective oldengame, which aims to introduce Game Studies to the University of Oldenburg; and of ALLUM, the Latinamerican Association of Ludomusicology, a group that seeks to foster and uplift local researchers working on video game music and sound.
We warmly welcome Karina Moritzen and look forward to working with you at the ZeMKI!
