New ZeMKI member in the Lab “Media and Religion”: Welcome Ananth Shreyas
27. July 2026
Since July 2026, Ananth Shreyas is a Research Associate at the Institute for the Study of Religion and Related Didactics at the University of Bremen, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kerstin Radde-Antweiler within the ZeMKI Media and Religion Lab. He is currently developing his doctoral project on the intersection of digital media, religion, morality, and gaming cultures in India.
Prior to joining the University of Bremen, he worked for over six years in Indian media and political communication — as a correspondent and bureau head at outlets including The Quint, WION, and Times Now, reporting on elections, communal violence, and governance; as a policy and communications consultant advising the Chief Minister’s Office of Andhra Pradesh; and as a political consultant designing election campaigns for the Indian National Congress in Karnataka. He completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, a Master of Arts in Political Science at St Joseph’s College, Bengaluru, and a Master of Public Policy at the Hertie School, Berlin, where his thesis examined how religious narratives circulate through climate misinformation on YouTube during India’s Maha Kumbh Mela.
We warmly welcome Ananth Shreyas and look forward to working with you!
