Dr. Leif Kramp on Digital Violence in the Weser-Kurier

Insults, threats, rumors, or the sharing of intimate images against one’s will—digital violence is now a daily occurrence and a reality of life for many children and adolescents. That is why it is all the more important to shed light on the issue of digital violence and provide parents with concrete steps they can take. Our research coordinator and media researcher Dr. Leif Kramp and Ronja Korfe, head of the initiative “WTF – Digital Self-Defense for Girls and Young Women” at the Service-Büro Jugendinformation Bremen, shed light on digital violence in an article in the Weser-Kurier.

This article is part of the theme week „Wir gegen Hass – für mehr Respekt im Netz“ (translated: “We Against Hate – For More Respect Online”) which was developed in collaboration with the initiative “Resignation Is Not an Option” – RIKO for short. RIKO was launched by the Bremen State Media Authority (brema), where representatives from law enforcement, media regulation, and media companies work closely together to jointly combat hate speech online that is subject to criminal prosecution and to counter the increasing coarsening of digital communication. In addition to the media regulator (brema), participants in the RIKO initiative include law enforcement (Bremen State Criminal Police Office), the Senator for the Interior and Sports, and media companies in the state of Bremen (WESER-KURIER Media Group, Nordsee-Zeitung, RTL Nord, Sat.1 Nord, Radio Bremen, and Energy Bremen).
