For students who missed this year’s regular application deadline or are only now becoming interested in studying abroad for a semester, the Erasmus Program offers the opportunity to apply for remaining spots through a late application process! The application deadline is June 5, 2026. 

We are delighted to announce that our ZeMKI member Hannah Marie Büttner successfully defended her dissertation, titled “Social Movement Power in Digitally Networked Protest: A Study of Anti-Covid Communities on Telegram,” on May 5, 2026.

The interdisciplinary research network CARD (Conceptualizing Agency, Religion and Digitalization) is holding its second working meeting at the University of Bremen from May 4th to May 6th. The focus of the event is the discussion of the first chapters of a planned handbook that will scientifically examine the complex interrelationships between agency, religion, and digital transformation processes.

On May 4, 2026, the English edition of the textbook Key Works: Theories in Communication Studies was published. It offers a comprehensive overview of key theories in communication studies and presents 28 essential texts at the micro, meso, and macro levels. As part of the ARD Action Days and the workshop “Wem glaubt Ihr?” (Who Do You Believe?), students of Communication and Media Studies (KMW) were invited to Radio Bremen’s broadcasting center on April 28, 2026.

Two members of ZeMKI have been newly appointed to the editorial board of the journal gamevironments: Christian Schwarzenegger and Karsten D. Wolf will strengthen the scientific panel of the gaming journal.

To mark World Press Freedom Day on May 3, numerous events are taking place across Germany in the form of workshops, news camps, and web talks. Radio Bremen is also participating in the event. As part of the workshop "Who do you believe?", students of Communication and Media Studies (KMW) are invited to the Radio Bremen studio.

On April 8, 2026, Bruna Paroni from the University of Urbino, Italy, gave a talk at ZeMKI in Bremen on algorithmic amplification of visual content in Brazilian election campaigns.
